Title
Overview of project event at Botanical Garden of the University of Valencia, 19 November 2015
Summary
On 19 November 2015 a seminar on "Organic Gardening and Green Infrastructure in Urban and Peri-urban Areas" took place in the Botanical Garden of the University of Valencia, in the framework of ECOPLANTMED. The event was organised by the Forest Seed Bank - CIEF, Spanish partner of the project, and by the City Council of Valencia. The attendance was very high, with about 150 people registered, unusual for such kind of events in Valencia.

Opening of the seminar by Pilar Soriano, Councilor of the City Council of Valencia, Isabel Mateu, Director of Botanical Garden of Valencia and Julià Álvaro, Undersecretary of Environment of the Valencian Government

The seminar, led by Miquel Ibáñez, has brought together specialists from all sectors involved in organic gardening, from landscape and project designers to botanists, researchers and growers, as well as representatives of the main technical and professional associations such as the Professional Association of Flowers, Plants and Horticultural Technology of the Valencian Community, the Spanish Association of Landscape Architects, the Spanish Association of Organic Gardening and the Spanish Association of Parks and Public Gardens. In total, seven speeches were made, as well as two round tables with 9 other interventions.

The moderator of the event, Miquel Ibáñez, Head of the Section of Conservation of Forest Genetic Resources of CIEF

The contact between all these specialists has detected the major problems currently faced by professional sectors involved, as well as technicians and researchers working on these matters, stressing the need to strengthen cooperation and interaction between all agents.
